Rihanna wants police to return the $1.4 million in jewelry she wore the night Chris Brown allegedly beat her. Us Weekly reports:

According to a motion filed Tuesday by her attorney Donald Etra, police seized a pair of earrings and three rings as evidence after the Feb. 8 attack in Los Angeles, the Associated Press reports.
Her attorney said the bling was on loan - and the four companies want the items back.

I don't know anything about policing, but why would the cops take all her jewelry? Were her earrings really evidence? Why didn't they just rummage through her purse? "Hey, sorry, we're gonna have to take this $300 in cash. As evidence. This is very important stuff."

Rihanna showed off her bright pink sneakers as she passed through LAX Airport this past week.

Since returning to Los Angeles, the “Umrella” singer has kept quite the active social life - as she went clubbing on Thursday night followed by an appearance at Britney Spears’ Circus show at Staples Center last night April 17.

In related news, it’s being reported that Rihanna could soon be making her return to the stage, as she’s in talks to put on a show next month in Dubai.

“Rihanna will be performing on May 28,” Mary Rachelle Cherpak, a spokeswoman for Dubai Department of Tourism, told MTV News. “The tickets have not gone on sale, but will do so in the next two weeks.”

Describing what can be expected, Cherpack added that it will be “a concert for 25,000 audience members.”

Rihanna leaves country for Chris arraignment

Seen here leaving the airport, Rihanna has hightailed it to Barbados to avoid being in town for Chris Brown's arraignment on felony assault charges tomorrow. Chris' lawyer and prosecutors are heavily negotiating a plea which might actually include jail time, according to TMZ:

We know Brown will plead not guilty tomorrow, however the plea may just be a formality.
Sources say Rihanna has made it clear she does not want to testify in the case and wants Brown to cop a plea. We're told one of the reasons she's in Barbados right now is because "she wants to be as far away from this case as possible."
As we first reported, Brown was inclined to plead either guilty or no contest to a misdemeanor, provided he got no jail time -- but since we broke that story, the D.A. and Mark Geragos, Brown's lawyer, have gotten down to the nitty gritty.

So, essentially, Chris Brown has to prove his love for Rihanna by going to jail and not making her testify in court. After what he did to her face, I'd say that's a fair deal. Provided he also wears a blonde wig and make-up the entire time. Or are we not trying to teach him a life-long lesson here? I forget.

Despite the fact that she said she’d help police investigate her domestic dispute with Chris Brown, Rihanna is reportedly not cooperating with the authorities in their procedures at this time.

The “Take a Bow” songstress has been slow to work with the police, especially after a photograph of her battered face was leaked to the public earlier this year.

FOX News’ Roger Friedman revealed, “Rihanna’s loyalty to Brown, I predict, will backfire. For one thing, even without her testimony, prosecutors already have evidence and a statement. But even more damaging to Rihanna, ironically, will be the image of her as a battered woman defending her alleged batterer. This isn’t 1967. In a post-Tina Turner confessional world, too much is known about this sort of thing. Rihanna is a role model for young women.”

He continued, “But for her to endorse - either implicitly or explicitly - what went on that night could result in her going from victim to enabler. And while victim earns the public’s sympathy, enabler doesn’t. Future commercial sponsors may not see Rihanna’s as an image they want to send to young consumers if she’s viewed as interfering with Brown’s criminal prosecution.”

“Right now a hearing is set for one week from today. At that time, Brown will likely be arraigned, charges will be filed. Whether Rihanna supports those charges and will help prosecutors at trial remains to be seen.”

Rihanna is said to be looking into some acting projects, one of which is a remake of the 1992 Whitney Houston/Kevin Costner flick “The Bodyguard.”

According to an insider, the “Take a Bow” songstress would play Houston’s role, putting a “young and sexy” spin on the character, while Channing Tatum is the frontrunner for Costner’s part.

A source told press, “Before the situation with Chris, Ri was getting a lot of scripts. She’s been wanting to do movies for a while now,” while her rep has said that nothing is set in stone.

In addition to her acting aspirations, Rihanna has been working on her new album, with two tracks already completed. If we’re lucky we may see a late 2009 release date.
